Magdalena works as a photograph conservator. She holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree and a Professional Doctorate (PD) in photograph conservation, both from the University of Amsterdam (UvA), the Netherlands. Prior to this, she completed a Bachelor (BA) in photography at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague, the Netherlands, and gained first experience in photograph conservation during a pre-programme internship at Clara von Waldthausen’s conservation studio in Amsterdam. After her studies she worked for the project Collection Knowledge 2.0 by the Dutch Foundation for the Conservation of Contemporary Art (SBMK), focussing on the identification, terminology and preventive conservation of contemporary photographic materials. Subsequently, she worked as conservator of photographic materials at the Rijksmuseum, mainly looking after the museum’s collection of photographs by Ed van der Elsken. In this, she was particularly intrigued by this artist’s dummies which document choices and decision points in the process from photographing to the printing of his photobooks.

This website documents Magdalena’s previous art projects until 2015.
